Winter Resilience
The village 'Snow Team' is on a 10-day rolling watch for snowfall potential using localised forecasts from the Parish Weatherstation. More volunteers to join the team always welcome.

Make-up, Lights, Action!
'Under the new 'Openness in Local government Bodies Regulations 2014' the Parish Council is to allow recording and filming of its public meetings. (Subject to a few conditions of course.)

Last update: 1st January 2015
After over 50 years of being the 'voice' of the village the Society has decided to consider its future and has 'gone into hibernation'. Existing and potential new members wishing to resurrect the Society in perhaps a new form contact Dirk Jones, a resident of 40 years:

Police Reports
As the monthly 'Henley Area' Police Reports bear no relation to events in Sonning Common they are no longer covered by this website. Our PCSO has been requested to recommence the superb reporting he used to do before as they were always relevant to our village.
January Shivers
Forecasters say January could be colder (and whiter) than average due to an increased likelihood of an 'SSW' (Sudden Stratospheric Warming!) occurring, as in 2009, which affects the 'Arctic Oscillation'. Snow shovels at the ready folks.
Essex Way Resilience
Elderly residents of Essex Way are demanding OCC winter gritting due to the high volumes of 'carers' traffic. The adjacent private 'Care Home' should show communal spirit in the village and help out here.
Mast 'Thank You'
A 30 foot high flagpole has been donated to the Parish Weatherstation to replace the one broken in the gales last winter. This will carry various new sensors so 'thank you' to the anonymous donor!
